Real World Dobro - Long Journey Home

Time for some classic bluegrass! This song is pretty simple, and the only reason I put it in the "intermediate" section is because it uses a "Bluegrass Vamp". The chord progression is 16 bars long, but after an instrumental section (solo), you add 2 more bars of G. A vamp is a simple way to add space between the solo and the verse, but it can be confusing if you're not ready for it. Basically, at the end of your solo, you keep playing G until the singer comes in! The most common mistake in a jam session with this type of tune is to try to put 2 solos back to back. With this tune, you should always put a verse in between each solo. If you play this one without the vocal, you'll likely see what I mean. This is a great tune for working on chops and chucks! There isn't really space for fills with this one, so I would suggest limiting your rhythm parts to pads and chops. Have fun!

Thanks again to Zak Bunce for his fantastic vocals!

Watch the video for ideas, but the best practice will be with the play-along track.
